Ben's General Food Store

Happy Monday! Who says Monday has to be dull and mundane?? Today is one of the happiest Monday I have for quite a while. Ok maybe not totally happy as I had road rage issues. But I'm still a really happy kid! I went to Bukit Bintang to get several stuff and came home with 2 hands full!! Wheee...

Then for dinner, Iona picked me up and we head to Publika. She had been telling me about it and finally we went! I have never been there and it was like a whole new world to me and I swear I felt as if I was in Singapore. The mall near Fullerton Hotel (help please)... Anyway less talk more pictures!!

We chose Ben's General Food Store. If I'm not wrong, this is under the same management as all the popular Plan B, Ben's that is all around posh areas like Bangsar and Pavilion! Iona dragged me to the Big's Independant Grocer first. I was thinking... what is this... what am I eating here... then we walked in and then I saw the dear place!

They have a wide range of salads and cakes for you to choose. As well as pies, sausages. It looked something like what you see in the Masterchef kitchen where you have everything here and there!

Moroccan Lamb Meatballs with Scorched Sweetcorn with Crabmeat (RM17.90). It was really good. Although I can't really find visible pieces of crabmeats, I could actually taste it. It complimented the corn really well. As for the meatballs, soft, tender and flavorful. Nuff said!

For our main, I chose the Salami Pizza (RM19.90). We had such a difficult time trying to cut the pizza and at the end, we had to use our hand. It was pretty hard to cut until my half of my hand dunked into the meatball bowl and halfway through the meal, I got so frustrated with the pizza. It turned rubbery. WHY? And the beef peperoni was a bit salty for my liking...

After dinner, we walked inside the Grocer for a while and Iona bought some from the bakery and I went to the dessert side to look at the cakes. I was torn in between having Moo Cow or this. I gave in and bought the Coconut Cake!

As I could not wait any longer, I quickly dig in when I reach home. Sorry for the bad picture. I tried so hard and my camera just have to fail. This is a queer cake I might say. It's really just coconut cake. Shaved coconuts on the inside, vanilla sponge inside and in the middle, some coconut pudding. Of course, slathered with some cream so the shaved coconuts could adhere to the cake. It wasn't something I could shout about but it's a cake that I could eat without having any guilt. It's almost a guilt-free cake if it wasn't for the cream. It was kinda hard to eat this cake as the shaved coconuts kept on falling off so I ate it with a hand. But hey, some food taste better if eaten with just the hand!

I really like this place and I wouldn't mind going there again! Do check out their website B.I.G for more of their "empire". And now, I have to go have some eye shuts. I'm tired...

Post-Finals Plans

Pardon my thinking face... I hope I look like this when I'm thinking. Lol... Pardon my cracked lips Amy... Dehydrated due to exams... haven't been drinking a lot of water. My bestfriends are coffee and milk tea. As in nai cha... not Chatime.

1 more paper! 10 more days till freedom! Actually I have been relaxing since last night so tonight I have no choice but to read up my notes. Why good times past by so fast?? I have already planned on what to do after finals even before I started my first paper... hehehe so much for dreaming?

1) SLEEP for 24 hours straight... I mean it. Seriously mean it. I shall post my unglam picture for you to judge. Hehe... for one paper I had to go on without sleep for somewhat 27 hours? I fell asleep playing the tab and didn't even realise I fell asleep. I just developed a really bad habit. Whenever I am too tired, while sleeping, I bite my own tongue or mouth. I wonder why...

Still pretty or not? Haha!

2) Learn a new language. I have always wanted to do this. But procrastination is my middle name. This time I have no excuses but to do it! Spanish or French?

3) Fix my hair! Close friends probably have seen my hair. It's not even ombre. I swear I have no idea what is it. I called it the reverse ombre. I dyed my hair super dark sometime around November and I was in love with it. But then I got bored with it and tried to dye it light brown. To my horror, the only part that takes in the color was the grown out hair. Now that the color has finally set into my hair a little, I kinda assume that it can take other colors. I wanna even it out... I have no idea how to describe my hair... But they say nice... I doubt you la!

I have a much lighter bangs and the rest of the top part of my hair as well... the rest are pretty much dark brown/black. Hehehe... I had to put that emoticon on her face. Trust me... it's for her good...lol

4) Buy something really good for myself. The other day I was thinking buy myself an Iphone 4S after exams. I know I'm feeling rather childish. Alex told me not to buy and wait for SIII. I said ok lo.... how easily convinced I am. But now I'm thinking of the IP5. Wait la... So now I'm stuck in between getting a Polaroid camera or great earphones... Or maybe...?

5) Organize my room. I kinda foresee I'll be needing the room a lot more than before. Maybe install better lighting. Decorate my old bed. And the most importantly, organize my makeup table. It's in a great mess when I left the other day.

6) Have a life... a better one... lol!! I know this is crazy thinking. Maybe I should rephrase... fix my pathetic life... since finals I haven't been eating properly and my companion are TVB dramas and notes. Every single meal is a torture as I would rather be sleeping. The other day while waiting for food and Carrian, I almost fell asleep at Jaya One.

My dinner companion for almost every night... Raymond Wong looks so funny here...

7) Internship. This is the last on my list. I don't feel like doing it. I know I don't have a choice. By then I will be pumped out anyway.

I'm so looking forward to Monday! I'm gonna go to the city for no reason. I'm going alone. I don't care. If I don't want people to spoil my day, I have to go alone. Can what... and then dinner with my babe! Yee hawww... Miss her muchoo

Kuching... My Miao Miao City

Yeap... I am on such a crappy mood. You can blame it on my period or maybe something else. But above anything else,  I should be much happier as I am halfway through my finals! Yeah me! I was looking forward for a good dinner outside, but it's ok la... stay home jiu stay home liao lo.... what to do :( ... I have a bad news. I am running out of stuff to blog. Haha! I know I could probably continue with my Singapore post. But then Day 3 was just purely Universal Studio so I am extremely reluctant to put it up... Day 4 was very much for business purpose and Sushi Tei dinner. So if anyone is interested to read them, do let me know. I'll put them up. Or else, the pictures will remain in my drive. Haha!

I have been staring at my "blog material" folder and I can't find anything to talk about. But I felt bad on leaving this post kinda useless so I'm just gonna post up something that is relevant with my mood now. I miss Kuching. The irony is that I was just back there about a week ago and I am missing it already. Why? Allow me!

1) I miss my party people!! I don't party as much in KL. I'm much of a nerd in KL. Or even an anti-social. Seriously.

 2) My two ladies back home. Hehe... nuff said...

3) My little fluffy ah pui (fatty) SNOWY~

4) My all-time favorite laksa! Ask any Kuchingite and we shall refer this as one of our top favorite food! This is not curry laksa. This is not assam laksa. This is Sarawak laksa!! Different you know. Sometimes it's so frustrating trying to tell those people that have never ever been to Sarawak what things are like back there. We do have roads and although we are surrounded by sea, it's not that all of our houses are by the sea. Or all the restaurants are by the sea. If like that, I won't even need a car. And please... I have to say this. I have to clarify this. I have so many people asking me, "why don't you drive back Sarawak?".... eerr... can you please check the world atlas please? You expect me to drive right into the South China Sea?

5) Kolo Mee!! Please my KL friends, this is not wantan mee. This is not pan mee. Stop being confused and say it's the same. It's not. Look at the noodles! And most importantly, you eat it in Kuching. Not that it's not available elsewhere, it only taste best in Kuching. Geddit???

6) And of course, my bestie. Now thinking about it, I haven't talked to her for quite a while. Miss her la...

2 more papers, 18 more days, I'll be back for nearly 4 months. By then I'll miss KL again. Tata my love!

SIngapore Day 2

I'm so sorry for the total MIA. I didn't even bother to post an away notice. Currently I'm having my 2nd year finals and super busy. Well, kinda. Hehe. I'm super sorry for the readers that had still been reading despite my lack of updates. Thank you so much! How did I manage to snag 4000 readers last month? I have no idea but thank you so much. So to compensate, I'm thinking a break from my divorce cases anyway, I'll continue on my Singapore trip!! Whee ~ excited or not??!! There are tonnes of pictures so I kinda collage them so don't mind okay???

Our first stop was actually Far East Plaza but we were really early that day and most of the shops were not even open yet. We actually hung until 11am and only some of the shops were opened. So we gave up and went to Ion Orchard.

We wanted to try this at first but then we wanna shop first. But at the end of the day, we totally forgot about it. Dang!

Haha! Vain me. This was in Cotton On dressing room. I kinda regret for not buying the pink one. Oh, it was too transparent. Right! And the bimbo me was that it is available in Malaysia but I chose to buy it in Singapore. What for?

We had a quick shopping session at Cotton On before heading to Takashimaya. For the previous trip, we had dinner here too. But a different restaurant. It was Japanese as well. This was way better. But I forgot the name of this restaurant... it's not in the food court, nor an individual restaurant. It's among a lot of Japanese restaurants. Does this help you? Wait! It's Romankan Yokohama!

Please forgive me for useless captions. I went there about 2 months ago. God knows what I did. Thankfully there are pictures.  All I know is that the food was delicious and expensive. Haha! Ok, I found the receipt. I can't believe I snapped a picture of it. It's Rosuni.

One of our must-go place was H&M. We heard so much about it so we took the train over there. We stopped at Somerset 313 and walked over. Didn't take a lot of photos of inside. I was too engrossed with the pretty summer dresses. But I didn't get any :(

We then went back to Somerset 313 to meet up with Aunt Leona and Natasha. That building has a 4-storey Forever 21!!! Shopping heaven!! But it wasn't wallet-friendly at all to me. Nothing was on sale and there are stuff that is available back in KL anyway, so at the end I just bought the makeup brushes.

My sister was craving for ice-creams. Natasha was as well. So why not? Since I have never tried any of them in Singapore. Do I like it? Eerr... no... it was too sweet for my liking. Nuff said.

Then we went to Bugis Street for cheap shopping and we bought the most inside there. It was really packed inside so we couldn't be bothered with pictures. All of us were tired and sweaty.

Finally we had dinner at MOS after a long day. It was one of the most anticipated meal there but we were sent home with just disappointment! My beloved Unagi Rice Burger was no longer on the menu and the ebi one I had was almost tasteless. But there were really nice fresh prawns in it so it's all fine. Sis's beef burger was flavourful but lacking oommpphhh! After dinner, we met up Aunt Leona and went back to her place to see Aaron and Arthur and had some beehoon and clams to fill the poor tummies up. And that's it for Day 1! And oh of course...

The majority of my haul was definitely from Bugis Street Market. Allow me!
1) Blue turquoise top (Bugis) - SGD10
2) 3 Earrings -M&M, Starbucks & Mismatched (Bugis) - SGD5
3) Antique clock pendant (Bugis) - SGD5
4) White watch *P.S Wes-influenced* (Bugis) - SGD8
5) Chain earrings (H&M) - SGD6.90
6) Black top (Cotton On) - I forgot. Hehe...
7) Makeup brush set (F21) - SGD8

I'm done for Day 1! And now to continue my digress... and it's a Saturday night lehh... wait Sunday morning. I'll be back lovelies ...

What's In My Makeup Bag?

Just a quickie before I go off for my revision again. Since that day I received my makeup bag from Chic Style Boom, I've been wanting to try it out. 2 more nights before I reach home sweet home, I pulled out the bag and give it a test run. Gonna be back for 1 month so I have to pack my essentials!!

Just the very basics as you can see... but I got something I have to point out... the obvious!

1) My makeup brushes - Really can't really travel without them. I didn't bring my bigger brushes like the stippling brush so sad... I'm not a fan of using my fingers for hygienic purpose. Plus, how to apply powder blush with finger? And my super chio pink brush set! Got it from F21 in Singapore Somerset 131 for SGD8! So happeh...
2) Concealer palette - won't know when your skin is gonna suffer from the breakouts
3) Bronzer - every girl should own a good bronzer. It gives you the healthy glow you want and good for shading purpose!
4) Eyeshadow palettes - One neutral ones and one for party/date... I came up with that just now. I thought of just bringing the Naked Palette then I realised it might be a bit dull... or maybe I should bring my blue one?
5) Falsies - Need them to make the eyes pop!

Obviously I cannot fit my Naked Palette in the compartments... But I manage to throw everything in! Last time I lugged about 2 big pouches of makeup back can? Proud of myself for being able to cut down!

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

Another tag that I "stole" from Frmheadtotoe . Actually I saw it somewhere else and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Since I just woke up... yeshh.... look at the time... it wasn't a nap by the way, I decided to give it a go! I actually went through my makeup stash to do this!

QUESTIONS!

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
- Inexpensive: In2it Gel Eyeliner. It just glides! I got it when it was on promotion "2 for price of 1". It was only RM20 for 2 eyeliners.
 - Expensive: Naked Palette. RM175. Nuff said.

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
- Again, the Naked Palette. I actually had lots of chance to get it when it was still on the racks. But it was always the time I didn't want to own it. It was at July last year back in Kuching, it went back on the racks. I made Iona travel all the way to Bukit Bintang to get it. Hate it cos it was so hard to get it that time and pretty expensive for a student like me. Love it? Definitely because I no longer buy any other eyeshadows from the moment I own the palette. Talk about clever investment!

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
- Burt's Bees Mango Butter Lip Balm. Tastes exactly like mango and it smells amazing!

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
- Face primers. I own a really good face primer from M.A.C. I know it's supposed to protect my skin and gives better application. Maybe my skin is kinda ok, I don't need it?

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
- Falsies! But there's only one type of falsies I wear. The one from Lioele. I like how's really natural and made my eyes pop instantly! Let you see...

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
- Somehow I think this was a bit not in the topic. Anyway, physically would definitely about the jaw lines and biceps. Oh em gee... so shy I say this. I like the veins on the arms due to the workouts they do. Only subtle ones okay? As for characteristics, definitely plus points to him if he can hold a real conversation. Oh, in other words, intelligence with sense of humors.

THIS IS NOT SEXY! THIS IS SCARY

Haha... I'm not sure whether can you see this.... but this is smexy,..

7. ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
- This is hard. I don't think there's anything I want in the beauty aisle. I always buy them when I see them. I want really good earphones. I use them a lot. Which one? The leading one is definitely Beats by Dr Dre. But I really won't mind settling for something else. Kthxbai!
